Intro

• I started with describing the concept of digital natives and digital immigrants..

• Discussed how to illustrate, extend, challenge, qualify, or complicate an argument with examples such as Last Week Tonight episode and other short videos.

• Pick one of boyd’s arguments and model one of the actions—the one that seems to confuse students most, using not an outside source (yet) but their personal experience as evidence.

Outside Sources

• I already asked them to bring 3-4 outside sources that concerns one section of boyd's paper. During class, we broke off into groups and discussed different possible claims for each section.

• discuss how other texts can communicate with a primary text. I used the lyrics in songs as a way to help show that anything can communicate with each other.

Demonstration

• Map out one article that I choose and help demonstrate how to connect this type of text.

• suggest outline for the essay and sample paragraph that illustrate, extend, challenge, qualify, or complicate an argument.
