New SLOs and Assignment Types Spring 2017

In spring 2017 new student learning outcomes and new assignment sequences were developed for RWS100 and 200. We also assembled some sample prompts for RWS200 (we are working on sample prompts for 100). At the fall 2017 department conference there will be sessions covering the new SLOs and assignment sequences.

Student Learning Outcomes & Assignment Types

In Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 we held meetings to discuss ways of bringing greater focus to argument evaluation in our assignment types and teaching materials.
Prior assessment of our program suggested we have been doing a good job of meeting most learning outcomes, but could do more to include evaluation of an

arguments strengths and weaknesses. The files on this page contain

  1. a draft of new assignment types for RWS100 and RWS200
  2. revised student learning outcomes for RWS100 and RWS200
  3. a rubric for assessing the degree to which student papers meet learning outcomes (used in a self-assessment project in spring 2014.)
